Vis Dev Opportunity

Greetings BFA class 2010! Dave Chai requested that I post this up on the blog. Keep in mind that summer projects are often a wonderful way to keep your skills sharp during the break, and they are usually tons of fun.

Dear Students,

Our new A/I faculty member, Raquel Coelho, will be working on visual development this summer for an upcoming animated short film project. She is looking for interested visual development students to help for several weeks this summer, starting on July 21st, and meeting every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 pm.

She will be meeting this Wednesday 6/10 at 3 pm in ART 243 to present the project and see who would be interested.

If you plan on attending, please send a confirmation email to both davechai@earthlink.net and raquel@raquelcoelho.com

Details regarding the project are below.

Thanks,

DC

My project is short film telling the story of a brazilian boy who meets a mysterious man. The man gives him a "berimbau" - a musical instrument that has a magical sound. Through the sound of the berimbau the boy will discovery many wonderful things...

This is not a gag or funny movie, it is more like a folk tale. It is set in Brazil. It will be done in 3D computer animation and it will be between 7 and 10 minutes long. There are two main characters, a couple of sets, props and a few chickens too! The idea is to make a piece strong enough to enter the animation festival circuit. I would like to work on visual development during the summer with a group of interested students.

Evolution of 117 Blog

Hello Everybody! Our dear 117 class blog is evolving into a BFA 2010 Blog!! We will still keep the same address and all but just change the title. I know we all have a lot to work on after last Saturdays great Portfolio Review with the Alums. A HUGE thank you to everyone that gave up their precious Saturday to help us all out!! And thanks to Tony for setting it all up! It was extremely helpful!!

For the blog I am thinking along with posting revised Viz Dev work we could also have a weekly topic, similar to JP's imagination assignment, where we would spend no more than half an hour on just to keep our imaginations flowing. Any thoughts on that or suggestions? Alright let's get to work!!

J&J acme revisions

Hey guys. I've been working on my J&J storyboards for acme and I just finished some revisions based on some pro comments and I thought I'd throw it up here as well. Aside from some camera angle stuff they wanted the witch to be more evil and suggested having her taunt Joringel more. Its pretty long now, but if you happen to watch it please don't hesitate to comment. I'm still going to be working on these so feel free to say anything. Thanks! I hope everyone's summer is off to an awesome start.
