Job Season

Hey all. I don't know how many of you keep up with this blog any more, but I thought I would share something. Employers are looking for workers now since you are all in your last semester. Please keep your portfolios handy, updated, and easily accessible. If you have a blog, you should have a second one or a website that has your best work on it. I know you get this from you teachers all the time, but it's so true! Good luck to you all and keep that fire burning.

  2. Thanks for looking out JP! I have a question, when making a portfolio do you recommend putting the pieces from the same project together or divided it into themes of char., env, props, etc.I feel like pieces from project would look nice together in a packet, rather than splitting them up. But then divide your work into themes would be nice too, that way it easier to organize to judge and put the best works in the front. I'm just wondering what your opinions are.

  3. Hey, sorry for the late reply...It varies to be honest. Some employers like grouped projects, some like grouped types of work (characters with characters, etc.) My personal preference is to show grouped types of work. That way I can emphasize what sort of work I like to do, and as the employer looks through the book they can see, "oh, and they do [xyz] also..." Honestly, most portfolios these days are digital. If you have a website, that's really handy because you can categorize your work that way. You can have galleries for "projects" and galleries for "character" or "environment" or "animatics" or whathaveyou. Hope everyone is having a great semester!
