James Thurber stayed here from 1901-03 in Church Falls, VA when he was about 7 years old. This was where James and his brother shot arrows at each other. Looks kind of creepy like I'm standing in front of someone's tombstone. :0

I feel like this piece is lacking some color. I know the edges and everything aren't cleaned yet, I am still working on it. But any suggestions or ideas to make this piece better would be great.




These poses are currently for the "good" side of my character. She is suppose to have an innocent beauty. I want to show as she becomes more and more known as the most beautiful woman in Europe, she gets more and more selfish, and tries to eliminate our competition. I was kind of thinking of Lady Gaga when I was working on this character. haha... Any suggestions to make the poses better or ideas for other poses would be great.



This is my float so far. I wanted to show a very peaceful garden in the front, and very evil looking in the back. This float is suppose to be very massive, and I am still currenly trying to figure out how to make it move, and what kind of stuff I want to have inside. Any ideas would be extremely helpful!

This is my current design for the float master. The setting takes place in Venice, Italy around 1930s. She is in her mid-30s and is the most beautiful woman in all of Europe. All the girls idolize her and wants to be just like her, but secretly she doesn't! She doesn't want anyone more beautiful than her! Men who go crazy for her is her reason to live, without attention she is nothing. She goes around city to city for the attention and when she sees a girl who is ever so slightly pretty, she will kill her.

I am still playing around with the shape and concept, and nothing is really finalized. So any comments are welcome!

i'm have problems picking her age. for the "nice" version i'm trying to make it have a feeling of a favorite auntie or grandma... i can't decide. So the "evil" one is suppose to be a bitter women. i'm still working out my story. its suppose to be a dimsum float, set in san francisco. she lures little children, kidnaps them, and cooks them for the stuffing of pork buns(cha siu bao). anyway, if you guys like any that would help me go into a direction. thanks

I combined ideas from a few of your comps into this one. I don't think this whale works that great, but I thought having part of the whale in some way would be important in that comp.

Hey folks, I have some more detailed sketches for my squid monster -- crits? I'm trying to somehow show that it's big... but keep interesting shapes at the same time. Really trying to make sure that body segments aren't the same length. Anyway, lemme know!

Huge Squid Shapes

Hey guys, I have been trying to get some squid shapes down.... but I am having an issue with keeping it squid-like, but then kinda playing with shapes at the same time to make it more interesting. I don't think I'm getting it. But, hey, here's what I have so far. If you like one or think it's going more in the right direction but could use ______, then let me know.
