This is my castle environment so far. I'm not sure if you can make out the shape of the castle enough to critique it. I'd like to do a drawing based on this composition to clarify the shapes as well. Thanks.
Hey Ken, pretty darn cool. I like how threatening it is- that is really clear. I was thinking that the space could be pushed with some really drastic atmosphere, not that we always need it, but I think it would really fit with yours. Even to the point where nothing on separate planes (foreground/mid/background) touches two dimensionally. What I mean by that is that you would see the tops of the trees and most of the castle, but as they move down, closer to foreground elements (2 dimensionally), they would fade to nothing, Vu's comps so far felt really misty, and I think that is something that helps create that. Besides that, I keep looking down that alley of trees besides the castle. The perspective leads me down there, but nothing is there. If that is unintentional, you could just drop that back out of sight with atmosphere or change the shapes of the trees, or just make the castle overlap that tree formation. So far, looking good, and I'm sure you'll paint it like you did with your fan boat- sneak in the McDonald's cup!
