This is my revised comp.  I'm not sure if the spikes in the owl gate eyes are too much.  I don't know whether to make the bird a nightingale or a crow either.  Nightingale fits the story, but crows are scarier.  Thanks.

    Hey Ken, The spikes work for me. The sharp shapes give it a really uneasy feeling. In my opinion, it'll be nice if you do copy the file and put the nightingale in there and compare the two. The innocent bird would be a nice touch as a contrast to this crazy enivironment.

    I like Vu's idea of showing the contrast between the two kinds of birds. Maybe have a few crows kinda surrounding the nightingale? I like your scary shapes and the color palette you used.
