  1. Hey Steph, this is looking pretty good. There are only a few minor things I would suggest. Her knee coming forward looks a little mushy. I know it's because you are keeping with the flowy look of her dress, but there are going to be a few straights in there from anatomy. Also, I can tell you have been avoiding her hands.

Overall, I trick I use is to block in the shadow shapes as graphically as possible. Right now the darkest parts of her body are in her sleeve and armpit.Give using simple shapes a shot and then work into them. Otherwise I think she is coming along well. The bottom of her dress especially I think you can just leave alone, it has a nice breazy feeling.

  2. I totally agree with liz. For me her right arm, the one that's up, looks too small compared to her hand, you might want to pose that out to see how the foreshortening works and look at proportions. Also her face feels kind of mushy to me, I would take Sheldon's rhythm chart over it to make sure you've got the features in exactly the right places. Lookin' good!

  3. Hi Steph,
I'd like to add a few things to Liz and Katie. I think her breast got flattened out where the decoration of the dress meats. Also her waist is becoming flat. I know you are good at figure drawings, so if you take a break from this girl and come back later, you'll see it.

  4. Steph,

I'd check out Sargent or Sorolla in terms of how to keep it loose, block in shadow shapes/highlight with just enough information to make it clear and avoid rendering. You seem to be doing that in the hair, which I like. Have some images open in front of you and let it rub off on you.

Sargent has lots and lots of women in floor length dresses: see how he handles them....
